A Good race to start the round. Austin has the hole shot and leads wire to wire.

No joy for the "elder" part of the Austin family. Andreotti has better numbers for the whole run.

The good news is that Miner picks up the pace. The bad news is that he also red light's away a great run. Payne has a good light and shuts it down. He'll race Pat austin next round.

Taylor gets the upset as Gasparrelli shakes and smokes in the right lane. Taylor just missed lane choice against Andreotti in the simi-finals.

Federal-Mogul Funny Car at the 12th Annual Autolite Nationals:

Austin overcomes Payne's hole shot and speeds ahead to win. Payne
slows after a big bang near the lights. Looks like we are down briefly for a
little top end clean up.

 (L) Dennis Taylor (99 Avenger)             0.487     6.097 221.56

Well, that didn't take long. About 10-15 minutes for a little dusting
and cleaning. Two upset winners from last round looking for a ticket into
the finals. Almost dead even at the start, Andreotti has the power to take
the win. Austin will have lane choice in thefinal.

Pat  Austin wins for the second week in a row.  Andreotti was giving Austin a race but he was very loose in the left lane.
